The International Council for Adult Education, ICAE is a global network that advocates for youth and adult learning and education as a universal human right.
ICAE represents more than 800 non-governmental organisations - regional, national and sectoral networks - in more than 75 countries. The network promotes adult learning and education as a tool for active citizenship and informed participation.
ICAE is in associate relations with UNESCO and has a consultative status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
ICAE brings an important global aspect to the Bridge 47 project and network, and works closely with Bridge 47 on strengthening the network. ICAE's close relations with the UN system are an asset to Bridge 47's global advocacy work. Bridge 47 has a strong focus on life-long learning, which corresponds well with ICAE's focus on adult learning and education.
On 3 October, 100 civil society representatives gathered in Brussels to discuss the role of Global Citizenship Education in achieving sustainable development.
